I put the Radiohead album The Bends in my card CD player Friday and I haven't been able to take it out or switch over to the radio (except when my wife is in the car, because she doesn't like hard music).
I'm not sure if I'm enjoying listening to it that much or I'm just to lazy to take it out. I think it may be some sort of combination. I should probably find another CD to put in there before I never want to hear that CD again. whatever.
I also remember getting new CDs about 10 years ago. I would play them almost non-stop and then get sick of them. I don't do that nearly as much now as I used to, but I don't know if it's because I have restraint and purposely don't overplay music I like or because I haven't found much music I have been able to enjoy in excess. I'm pretty sure it has to do with me getting older and not the music I'm finding--the question is, though, is it because I'm more mature now or because I'm more boring now.
I think we all know the truth. I have, by some great miracle, been able to become even more boring than I was a decade ago.
And yes, Thomas, I know you're going to say it, I do think The Bends sound kind of Radioheady.

I think I've a written a post or two about this phenomenon; how I don't listen to music over and over until I can't stand it the way I used to. In what turns out to be some major cosmic irony, operating on multiple levels, I think it was after those posts that I began my year-long obsession with late Radiohead.
And, by the way, I think the Bends is more Coldplay-y.
