Your car slid of the road and into an icy lake. The TV stations sent their camera crews to film the rescue attempt.
I wonder if you care that your peril has become the entertainment for rubberneckers across the state.
It reminds me of something I saw on the history channel. The rescue attempt of a plane that crashed into an icy river. They had footage of a person who didn't make it. You could see the person's head for minutes, and then you saw it no more.
What's it like to die on camera? What ran through your head before the cold water sucked the last bit of life out of you? Did your life flash before your eyes? Did it hurt like Hell or were you numb? Were you even conscious?
I don't know. If I were in that situation, I probably wouldn't care about rubberneckers. From the comfort of my own home, it kind of makes me sick. Rubbernecking isn't news.
whatever.

Well, try to look for the silver lining. Maybe in that person's final moments being captured on camera and shown to us we are reminded that life is short and can end suddenly and so we should cherish it while we have it. I mean, who doesn't gasp at his or her television and grow silent in that moment when the poor person's head disappears below the water forever?
