Is there a board game where cheating is part of the game? Not just something unscrupulous players do, but the goal of the game is to get away with cheating.
I hate to say it, but I think it would be fun. Let's say it's a game like poker. You would get so many points for a full house. You don't get a full house very often, so if you could stack the deck in your favor, you could get extra points for getting a hand that is otherwise rare. If you could prove after the fact that you cheated to get the full house, you would also get bonus points for conning the other players. If you got red-handed, though, you would lose a lot of points.
Now I remember the game--BS. BS is more about bluffing than cheating (though they're close--they both involve deception). BS is a good game--there is a marginal reward for bluffing, there is a certain amount of chance involved, but you still have to bluff to win, and the penalty for getting caught is large.
But the game I want involves cheating--not bluffing. Let's say there is a board with pieces (like Pictionary). Everyone is trying to be the first to the end. You could advance you piece a square or move someone else's away when they aren't looking. Everyone keeps a log of the movements, when the next turn comes, you declare you cheated, the other players check the logs and say, yes you did, and you get a bonus move. If one of the other players catches you in the act, they declare you are cheating and your piece goes back to the start, and the vigilante who caught you gets the bonus move.
Of course, if that were all there were to the game, it wouldn't be very fun--everyone would stare at the board the entire time waiting for someone to cheat. There would have to be a lot of things going on that distract people from the board. Pictionary, again, is a good example--everyone is watching the person drawing and not the board.
I'm going to have to think about this some more--I may be able to turn it into a real game...
